		Who is Cad Cam Solutions ? ________________________________________________________ CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd. ________________________________________________________ Cad Cam Solutions is a proprietary limited company (Australian registered Business Number 79 062 655 289). We are based in Perth, Western Australia. The people at Cad Cam Solutions have been using and developing CAD software since 1980. We initially offered Bureau Services to clients utilizing a "state-of-the-art" (for 1980) CAD system with numerous terminals, digitizers and flat bed plotters. We found that to offer competitive rates for our work that we had to be as efficient as possible and this lead to the development of special CAD productivity tools for use in the industries for which we offered our services. From these productivity tools were developed stand-alone applications, which we have successfully sold to our users, who we have continued to support since 1990. With the expanding use of the internet, since 1998 we have been offering our software products to anyone, anywhere in the world and can provide assistance and support via email and special programs we provide to run on your system. 		What computer do I need to run Fashion CAD : PC computer ________________________________________________________ PC System Requirements: _______________________________________________________ Operating System Windows '95, '98, NT 3.5 or later,'Me', '2000, 'XP, Vista . Computer (Minimum requirements) PC Pentium System. RAM ? Varies accoring to you version of Windows... Windows '95 - 64 Mb of RAM to Windows Vista - 2Gb RAM 50Mb free disk space for installation. Good Graphics with minimum of 800X600 resolution. 3 Button Mouse - Microsoft or Logitech scroll mouse (clicking the scroll button acts as the middle button). 15" or preferably 17"/19" Monitor. CDROM , sound Card and speakers. Printer options Outputs to any Windows supported printer. ( You can print at full scale in "tiles" on your desktop ) ( printer. Registration marks on each page sized piece) ( enable you to "stick" the pieces together. ) Plotters Direct output to many formats including :- HPGL, HPGL-2, PCL5, Calcomp, Postscript, etc.. Additionally any Windows supported plotter with a roll-feed option. We recommend that you buy the widest printer/plotter that you can afford which has a roll feed option. Digitizer options Note: We now support the use of good digital camera then on-screen digitizing of pattern line/curves over the top of the image pixels. For 'old' users Fashion CAD can be used with the following digitizer tables :- Calcomp 2200, 2500, CX1000,3000 Kurtaisone, GTCO, Hitachi, Houston, Scriptel, Sketchmaster, Sketchpro, plus generic drivers for others. Note: development of digitizer tablet drivers has been stopped in favour of 'on-screen' digitizing of images from digital cameras/scanners. Scanners & Digital Camera's can be used to digitally capture old patterns and the images used as an underlay to the graphics area for on-screen digitising. Please note:- If you have more RAM memory, the fastest processor and more powerful graphics then the software will run quicker. The system requirements stated above should be considered as the minimum needed to run the software. Mac computer ________________________________________________________ MAC Requirements: _______________________________________________________ Powermac G4, 700MHz or higher running 10.3 Panther (or Powermac G5 running 10.3 Panther). G4 - RAM 500Mb or preferably 1.0 gig - or more.... G5 - RAM 1.0 gig - or more Microsoft Virtual PC7 with XP (home version is cheaper) VirtualPC6 also works - but with more processor level calls on G4.. _______________________________________________________ Intel Mac with similar basic configuration with Boot Camp. Boot Camp allows Macintosh hardware to be 'dual boot'. This means that at startup, a user will choose to boot into either OSX or Windows XP. It requires that the user owns a licensed copy of windows XP. The current version of Microsoft's VirtualPC does not support the intel architecture. They are working on a new version of VirtualPC which will support the Intel chips. Or Intel Mac with 'parallel' , which enables "switching" between Mac and PC modes. _______________________________________________________ 50Mb free disk space for installation. VirtualPC is stable - more so than many PC's! - but accidents happen so enable 'undoable drives' in VirtualPC as a kernel panic while VPC is running trashes the virtualPC data file and needs VPC to be re-installed. VirtualPC7 on G5 is a memory hog - more so than VirtualPC6 on a G4. As with any computer more RAM and faster processor is better. Back to Top
		What is the Fashion CAD software license and what warranty do I get? We guarrantee to provide software which will work on your PC (provided that it meets the minimum configurations specified on our FAQ page) - and that it will create and print out patterns. If it will not do this then we will refund your purchase price - less any direct costs - eg shipping, etc. We have a wide variety of users (hundreds of them) who use Fashion CAD to satisfy their requirements and many provide testimonials (on our web site are a selection). We provide extensive self paced tutorials (developed over many years) and provide 90 days of free email support with purchase, but we cannot guarrantee 100% that an individual user will have no difficulties in applying it to the unique needs of their business. _________________________________________________________ Software License Agreement with Limited Warranty. _________________________________________________________ This is your agreement with CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd.. SOFTWARE LICENSE. 1. GRANT OF LICENSE. In consideration of payment of the License fee which is part of the price you paid for the product, and your agreement to abide by the terms and conditions of this License and the Warranty, CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd., as LICENSOR, grants to you the LICENSEE, a non-exclusive right to use and display this copy of a CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd. software program (hereinafter the "SOFTWARE") on a single Computer ( ie with a single CPU) at a single location so long as you comply with the terms of this License. If the single computer on which you use the SOFTWARE is a multi-user system this License only covers the main user on that single system. This License is not a sale of the original SOFTWARE or any copy. 3. COPY RESTRICTIONS. This SOFTWARE and the accompanying written materials are the subject of copyright. Unauthorised copying of the SOFTWARE, including SOFTWARE which has been modified, merged, or included with other software, or of the written materials is expressly forbidden. You may be held legally responsible for any copyright infringement which is caused or encouraged by your failure to abide by the terms of this License. Any authorised transferee of the SOFTWARE shall be bound by the terms and conditions of this License and Warranty. In no event may you transfer, assign, rent, lease, or otherwise dispose of the SOFTWARE on a temporary or permanent basis except as expressly provided herein. 6. TERMINATION. This License is effective until terminated. This License will terminate automatically without notice from CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd. if you fail to comply with any provision of this License. Upon termination you shall destroy the written materials and all copies of the SOFTWARE, including modified copies, if any. 7. UPDATE POLICY. CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd. may create, from time to time, update versions of the SOFTWARE. At its option, CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd. may make such updates available to the LICENSEE and transferees who have paid the update fee or are subject to full SOFTWARE maintenance, where applicable. Supply of any such updates shall be subject to the terms and conditions of this License and reference to SOFTWARE in the License shall mean and include any such update. GENERAL TERMS OF SUPPLY OF SOFTWARE 8. MISCELLANEOUS. This Agreement is covered by the laws of the State of Western Australia and shall benefit CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd. , its successors and assignees. LICENSEE consents to jurisdiction in the state and federal courts located in the State of Western Australia. 9. WARRANTY. (a) If within ninety (90) days from the date of delivery of the SOFTWARE as evidenced by the copy of payment or the purchase receipt, the LICENSEE notifies CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd. of a defect in the SOFTWARE (not caused by use, abuse, accident or misapplication) CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd. shall at its discretion replace the SOFTWARE at the exclusive option of CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. LTd. Such replacemnet may be provided in electronic form at no charge or provision of replacement CDROM for which the LICENSEE shall pay for any delivery costs. The SOFTWARE replaced will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or ninety (90) days whichever is longer. (b) To the full extent permitted by the State or Territory law or laws applicable to this Agreement, any conditions or warranties imposed by such legislation are hereby excluded. Insofar as liability under or pursuant to any legislation whether of State, Territory of Australian Commonwealth may not be excluded, such liability is limited to:- (i) replacement of the SOFTWARE; or (ii) correction of any defects in the SOFTWARE at the exclusive option of CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd. (c) The LICENSEE acknowledges that no premise, representation or warranty or undertaking has been made or given by CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd. or any person or company on its behalf in relation to the profitability or any other consequences or benefits to be obtained from the delivery or use of the SOFTWARE and any accompanying hardware and written materials or as to its merchantability or fitness for any purpose or purposes and the LICENSEE has relied upon the LICENSEE'S own skill and judgment in deciding to acquire the SOFTWARE and any accompanying written materials to the LICENSEE. (d) Except as and to the extent that it is herein before provided, under no circumstances shall CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. Ltd. or any related person or company be liable for any loss, damage or injury (including without limitation any loss of profit, indirect, consequential or accidental loss, damage or injury) arising from the supply or use of the SOFTWARE and any accompanying hardware and written materials or any failure by CAD CAM SOLUTIONS Australia Pty. 		Import/Export Formats :- You can import and export in both HPGL and DXF file formats from FashionCAD. You can conform to the ANSI/AAMA-292 "Pattern Data Interchange Data Format" which is based on the DXF file transfer format to output any pattern piece or complete marker layout. Back to Top
		Importing Images :- You can import JPG images into FashionCAD by using the view underlay command which copies the image to the work space thus enabling you to use the image as a guide to create "real" lines and curves over the top of the image pixels. . You can use this method to 'on-screen' digitize over the top of scanned images or photographic images of old patterns. The size of the image does not matter as long as it has enough definition. The correct size for the pattern lines can be easily achieved by using the grading software to create a 'made-to-measure' size or range of sizes to match the measurement distances set up in the pattern measurements file.
